By the 12th step of recovery
My true life came to this:
Twelve friends betrayed me
Eleven homes had stayed me
Ten drugs filled spaces
Nine masks made faces
Eight fighters threw me
Seven lovers knew me
Six head-sick siblings
…Five Secret Things…
Four punished crimes
Three degrees
Two mind grenades
And a-part-soul in a body
Take the 13th step...
ReplyDeleteYou mean: step 616?
ReplyDeletewhen you jump a step, it is possible that you can fall hard. But some people, they can only learn that falling hurts by the hard way: falling. Also, surely, falling can be, how do you say, yes: 'fun'. But, of course, R, you know this. DobrĂ½ den.
ReplyDeleteThe 13th step is the hardest of all-
ReplyDeleteThe higher the number, the further the fall.
Your destiny rests in your hands, gently cupped-
The wheel of choice spins, yours...to interrupt.

ReplyDeleteI can only count to ten, so I didn't understand the first four lines, could someone explain them to me
